Apple is to open a new store in New York’s Grand Central Terminal in the Autumn that is likely to be the biggest Apple Store in the world, at least because of its retail space.
Currently, the Apple’s largest retail store is located in Covent Garden, London and occupies an area of 40,000 square foot, 16,000 of which is publicly accessible.
The new store will be bigger than the Covent Garden store and is part of Apple’s “big splash” to celebrate ten years of Apple retail. The terminal already hosts over 100 retailers, located on three levels across 130,000 square feet.
Cult of Mac reports that its source indicated Apple would need to remove walls to create its retail space so that it can accomodate the 700,000 people that pass through the terminal each day, almost a third of which come to see the Vanderbilt Hall or frequent the large number of restaurants located within Grand Central.
Apple is rumoured to be updating its Palo Alto and Paris stores and opening a new store in Amsterdam this year.
