Apple has filed a lawsuit in the High Court in London, challenging one of the seven patents mobile manufacturer Nokia filed against it at the end of last year, claiming that one of Nokia’s European patents for scrolling technology on touch-screen handsets in invalid.
In September, Nokia filed claims in the UK, Germany and Holland, alleging that Apple had infringed on Nokia products sold in those respective countries, in regards to technologies used on the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Technologies including the wiping gesture on a touch screen to navigate content, or enabling access to constantly changing services with an on-device app store, were noted in the filing.
Nokia spokesperson Mark Durrant stated the following in an email to Bloomberg:
“Nokia is confident that all of the 37 patents it has asserted against Apple.
We are examining the filing and will take whatever actions are needed to protect our rights.”
And the case continues to roll on. Apple has declined to comment, but has previously said that Nokia is using the legal process to force access to Apple’s iPhone technology.
