Earlier this week we reported a bug in iOS 9.3 that caused apps to become unresponsive after tapping on links in Safari. The bug seemed to affect any iOS device, but was most prevalent on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.
Today, Apple released an update to fix the problem.
iOS 9.3.1 has a pretty short changelog — a single item that “Fixes an issue that caused apps to be unresponsive after tapping on links in Safari and other apps,” it says.
The issue seems to have appeared after the iOS 9.3 update and somehow affected an iOS 9 change to the way Apple handled links.
Dubbed “Universal Links,” this new link handling method ensured links were opened within native apps, a practice which would normally be done by Safari in previous iOS versions.
