Pennsylvania’s Perryman will make the foldable’s titanium casing from mostly recycled metal over the next three years.

Apple will buy up to $100M of titanium from Perryman, a family-owned producer in Pennsylvania, over the next three years, the company announced. The metal will be used in several Apple products, including the casing of the iPhone Duo, its first foldable phone.

The deal is part of Apple’s push to source more parts in the US, Reuters reported, and it comes days before the iPhone Duo goes on sale on 23 October.

Perryman will melt, forge and roll the titanium at its site in Houston, Pennsylvania, a small town south of Pittsburgh. At least 80% of the metal will be recycled. The iPhone Duo uses grade 5 titanium, a strong alloy that is also common in aircraft parts.

Perryman mainly supplies titanium to the aerospace and medical implant industries, yet Apple did not say how many jobs the deal will create.

Apple also expanded its work with Qnity Electronics, a Delaware company. Qnity will make the films used in the adjustable camera aperture of the iPhone 18 Pro.

Both deals fall under Apple’s American Manufacturing Program. Apple launched the programme in August 2025 as part of a $600bn, four-year commitment to spend on manufacturing and research in the US.

Nearly 100 parts in the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro now come from US companies in more than a dozen states, Apple said. Corning’s plant in Kentucky will make all iPhone and Apple Watch cover glass sold worldwide by the end of this year.

TSMC’s chip factory in Arizona, meanwhile, will make more than 100 million chips for Apple in 2026, the iPhone maker said.

“American ingenuity is vital to all our products, from the titanium crafted for iPhone Duo,” said Sabih Khan, Apple’s chief operating officer.

Demand for the foldable has been high, as the iPhone Duo starts at $1,999, and early orders sold out in minutes, with delivery dates pushed into January.
