Along with the release of the new iPad, Apple will be extending its AppleCare+ program to owners who pick it up. This is similar to the AppleCare plan that was made available with the iPhone 4S.
AppleCare+ will give your iPad an additional two years of support after the one year warranty is up and will cover accidental damage with a charge of just $49 for service.
You can purchase this additional coverage up to 30 days after you’ve purchased your device and it should keep you covered if you ever accidentally drop the thing and gosh forbid shatter its gorgeous glass.
AppleCare+ for iPad extends your coverage to two years from the original purchase date of your iPad and adds up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each subject to a $49 service fee. Whether you use your iPad with a Mac or a PC, just one phone call can help resolve most issues.
Don’t screw up more than twice though, otherwise you’ll be out of luck. That’s unless Apple announces an AppleCare++ plan, which I sincerely doubt it will.
