Apple has begun moving customers who had paid for its now-defunct MobileMe service to the free iCloud storage plan, which holds just 5GB of data, after their complimentary 20GB accounts lapsed — Apple Insider reports.
The year-long 20GB storage offer helped bridge the gap following MobileMe’s closure. Apple’s support page explains that customers using less than 5GB of storage are unaffected by the downgrade, but those who are over that cap will have their iCloud Backup, Documents in the Cloud, and iCloud Mail services temporary frozen until either they remove the excess data, or upgrade their storage to cover their entire data load.
