At its event in Cupertino, Apple today announced the iPhone 5c and the iPhone 5s. Both devices will ship on September 20 in the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, and Singapore.
You’ll be able to preorder the iPhone 5c (but not the 5s) online on September 13. By December 2013, Apple hopes to have the new iPhones available in 100 countries on over 270 carriers.
The iPhone 5c comes in two flavors: 16GB will set you back $99 and 32GB will cost you $199, on a two-year contract of course. Since this is a slightly lower-end device, there is no 64GB version.
The iPhone 5s comes in three flavors: 16GB will set you back $199, 32GB will cost you $299, and 64GB goes for $399. For those wondering, those are the same prices as we’ve come to expect on new iPhone releases.
Both new devices will run iOS 7 out-of-the-box. Everyone else will be able to get the new software version on September 18.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 5 is being discontinued. The iPhone 4s (formerly known as the 4S) will stick around as an 8GB option available for $0 on contract.
