Hot on the heels of its launch in Brazil today, US-based streaming music service Rdio is set to expand even further beyond its native USA next year. The company has just announced plans to launch in both Germany and Australia in early 2012.
As we reported last week, Rdio’s Brazilian launch is localized with the name Oi Rdio, offering a library of over 12 million songs at 8.99 reals per month for unlimited Web access and 14.90 reals for a full unlimited service across all its apps. There is a seven day trial available for all users. The service is a co-branding deal with Oi, Brazil’s largest telecoms company, with 67.1 million subscribers.
Rdio is already available in the USA and Canada. Now news of its first expansion into Europe sees it set to target a country which does not currently offer European leader in the market, Spotify. A very similar service, Simfy, is active there, however.
There’s no specified date for the German and Australian launches beyond “early 2012”.
