iZettle launches its card reader and mobile payment service in Brazil

iZettle is launching its mobile payments service in Brazil today, with a little help from its global partner and investor Banco Santander.

Businesses of any size can start accepting debit and credit cards in store by ordering an iZettle Chip & Signature reader, as well as setting up their digital register using the iZettle app on Android or iOS.

iZettle recently slashed the percentage it takes from each transaction through a new service called Smart Rate (available only in the UK initially). For users in Brazil, iZettle will be taking 5.75 percent of each card payment at launch.

The launch in Brazil follows a similar roll-out across Mexico in June – iZettle’s first expansion outside of Europe.
