Runtastic, the app that helps you track how much exercise you’re getting, has been acquired by Adidas. Terms of the deal were not shared, but Runtastic says Adidas is “the perfect match when it comes to taking our business to the next level.”
The company also promises the acquisition will bring no immediate changes for the user, but gives it a “whole new world of possibilities to play around with.”

Runtastic will continue to operate out of its offices in Linz, Vienna and San Francisco.
Adidas is likely trying to keep pace with other sports apparel brands who have similar services for athletes. Nike has its Fuelband app, and Under Armour has been on a tear recently, acquiring MyFitnessPal and launching its own platform, Record.
