As TechCrunch reports, It’s available today from the Settings section of Tumblr and means you can set any login attempt to require two separate keys. The first is a regular password, while the second is a unique 6-digit code sent to a mobile phone number of your choosing.
Two-factor authentication is becoming increasingly commonplace on the Web, as services look to bulk up the security of user accounts. Given that two-factor authentication is optional, this is a victory for everyone but hackers and people who lose their smartphone on a regular basis.
