Instagram to introduce advertising in the UK in ‘the coming weeks’

As promised back in June, Instagram is preparing to show ads for UK users soon. Charlotte Williams spotted a PSA-style sponsored post from Instagram announcing the roll-out:

Instagram also plans to begin displaying ads in Canada and Australia later this year. Facebook declined to comment on timing for those countries, but they don’t appear to be included in the UK launch.

Advertising first showed up for US Instagram users last November, with Michael Kors earning the dubious honor of running the first sponsored post.
