Steve Matteson is the Creative Type Director for Monotype. He leads a team of type designers who produce new typefaces for all media from brands to e-books. Steve began training as a typographer in 1985 with the help of the Apple Macintosh and the letterpress lab at Rochester Institute of Technology. Additional studies in calligraphy, book design and computers honed his appreciation for type design and production. His work has ranged from helping produce the first TrueType fonts shipped by Microsoft Windows in 1991 to the design of the OpenSans family. An avid cyclist and musician he resides in Louisville, Colorado.
