Microsoft’s new social planning app asks iMessage users ‘Who’s In’?

If you plan most of your events and dates via iMessage, then Microsoft’s new app will make it easier for you. Who’s In is an iMessage app that lets you set up casual get-togethers like Facebook events, directly from your text messages.

It’s fairly simple to use. You select the kind of outing you want — movie, dining, an “attraction” or other — search for the venue, and set a time. You can make your own event, complete with a picture for some reason.

There’s a chance this app will get lost, as many others have done, in the black hole that is the iMessage Store, where finding things is an exercise in patience.

It’s also very limited. It’ll be great for uncomplicated planning, but I fail to see how it’s going to replace good old, “hey, want to meet me at the theater at four?”

Who’s In is free and currently available for iPhone users.
