Google Allo can now guess what emoji you want to use

Google Allo can now guess what emoji you want to use

Google has treated Allo to a rather unexpected update on Android and iOS. The upgrade brings a couple of new features to the recently-launched messaging application, including a refreshed Smart Smiley button and interchangeable background themes for chats.

Building on Allo’s prediction algorithm, the Smart Smiley button will now interpret your conversation and suggest emoji and stickers that are relevant to what you’re typing. The functionality will also make its way to the application’s one-tap replies, enabling you to quickly respond to a message with a contextual emoji.

I’m a huge fan of personalizing the environment I’m working in, so I was particularly happy to hear that wallpapers are finally making their way to Allo. In a similar way to WhatsApp, you will be able to assign a unique theme to your chats by heading into the Settings menu.

Last, but not least, the search engine giant has added a new sticker pack to its latest version of Allo. It’s called “Fantastic Beasts” and features a selection of images inspired by J.K. Rowling’s latest wizarding film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Google will start rolling out the upgrade later today and aims to have the features available worldwide within the next few days — so be sure to keep your eye out for the update on either the App Store or Play Store. Smart Smiley will only be available in English to start with, but will make its way to more languages over time.
