Wunderlist announces its rebuilt, redesigned task-management app…just in time for Christmas

It was way back in November 2010 when we first reviewed the Mac OS and Windows desktop apps for Wunderlist, a gorgeous task-management service courtesy of Germany-based 6Wunderkinder. “Simple, easy and beautiful” were the three words that sprung to mind a the time.

Then in early 2011, it finally launched its long-awaited Web app. With no downloading required, users could finally sync tasks over the air on the Web and across all their devices, as well as share their lists with friends and colleagues.

Back in September this year, Wunderkit, a powerful project-management app also from 6Wunderkinder, ceased to be, with the company deciding to put all its eggs in the Wunderlist basket.

Now, the fruits of all this labour are being realized, with the news that the all-new Wunderlist 2 will be arriving for iPhone, Mac, Web, Android and Windows…just in time for Christmas.

6Wunderkinder made the ‘Coming Soon’ announcement via its blog this afternoon, confirming that version 2.0 of Wunderlist has been in private beta, with the iOS and Mac apps submitted to Apple earlier this week.

The Next Web will be getting access to the beta build shortly, but we can confirm that Wunderlist 2 will introduce completely re-engineered incarnations of the apps, across all devices. This will include a much slicker back-end (for you, this means grease lightening), a simple UI, Retina-ready graphics and a slew of other new features.

While the wait is almost over, the good folk at 6Wunderkinder have put this little ditty together to whet your appetite.
