Apple says first weekend iPhone 6 and 6 Plus sales topped 10 million

The iOS 8 launch came and went, and the iPhone 6 models hit the market too. And today Apple says that sales of its new devices topped the 10 million mark in the first weekend, in what it calls a new record for the iPhone.

The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus launched on Friday in the UK, US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, and Singapore, with round-the-block queues a familiar sight outside Apple Stores globally.

The device will be hitting 20 more countries on September 26, including Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal,  Russia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey and Switzerland. 115 more countries will be added before the year is out.

iPhone 6 Plus

The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus come in three flavors – gold, silver and space gray, and are available in 16GB, 64GB and 128GB models. You can read about all of Apple’s recent product announcements in this handy list.
