Just a few days after HootSuite added Reddit, StumbleUpon and more to its ever-growing App Directory, the Vancouver-based social media management dashboard has officially announced that it has passed five million users.
Launched in 2008, HootSuite lets users manage multiple social networks through a single dashboard, and the Canadian company has grown into a global social media brand used by individuals and companies alike.
So. Much. Tech.
Some of the biggest names in tech are coming to TNW Conference in Amsterdam this May.
As for this latest milestone, well, it seems it was passed on October 12th this year, and a total of 1.3 billion messages have now been sent through the platform since it launched four years ago. It seems that its latest growth is being driven by its expansion into Europe and Asia – just last month it launched in Traditional Chinese and integrated with Sina Weibo.
For a little context here, it took HootSuite around two years to reach its first million users, while the fourth million took almost eight months, which we reported on back in June. This is where things get a little confusing though – the company claims it took just two months to hit the 5 million user mark, but using October 12 as the key date here, that should be more like four months.
At any rate, HootSuite has now been translated into twenty languages, and in 2012 the company grew to 230 full-time employees, including its new office in London.
Meanwhile, check out HootSuite’s infographic below, charting the company’s current position and outlining some more key stats…apparently almost 80% of Fortune 100 companies using the dashboard:
