The Next Web is a proud partner in Zite’s brand new publisher program

The Next Web is a proud partner in Zite’s brand new publisher program

Today, personalized news magazine Zite announced its new publisher program that will allow it to deliver personalized news sections from a set of carefully chosen partners. These sections will contain 50 new stories for that day from the partner.

The Next Web is one of those partners, so you’ll be seeing articles from the site as you browse Zite from your tablet or phone. The program is invitation-only for now and we’re proud to be included alongside other publications like Bleacher Report, CNN, Daily Beast, FOX Sports, HLNtv, The Huffington Post, Motley Fool, and VentureBeat.

Zite explains how this will benefit the publishers who have signed on:

For publishers, this means that Zite has created a path to discovery for your application. First a user reads a great piece of content, adds your section in Zite, and eventually decides to enter into a deeper relationship by subscribing or downloading your app. We make that easy by allowing the publisher to include house ads with their articles in Zite that enable a single click from their article to their app in the app store.

The focus on helping users to discover news that is relevant and enjoyable, helping publications to build readers who appreciate a site for its content, not just its cachet, is one of the things that we love about Zite, so we’re excited to see how this experiment goes.

Zite launched back in March of 2011 as a digital news magazine that would learn as you read it, constantly working to deliver you the best mix of content for your reading habits.

The company was then acquired by news organization CNN late last year. At the time, KC Estenson, the general manager of CNN Digital said that: “Zite represents the next generation of content discovery and personalized publishing and CNN wants to help lead in that space. We think we can advance the industry in a meaningful way that helps content creators grow their businesses while growing the distribution of a product that people already love.”

“For a little over a year now, Zite has been changing the way people discover content,” says Mark Johnson, CEO of Zite. “With the launch of the Zite Publisher Program, we’re giving publishers a way to harness the power of discovery to gain more readers. We look forward to continuing to work with publishers to innovate on the traditional publisher-aggregator relationship.”

If everything works as it should, readers of the site here will continue to enjoy the same level of quality that we try to put into everything we do, while new readers who discover our content from Zite will join our current family of readers.

If you’re a current user of Zite, you should be able to see the customized TNW sections soon. If you’re not currently a user, you can check out Zite for free on the App Store here.
