CBS just announced it’s bringing more of its programming online with a new service called CBS All Acesss, which will net you full current seasons of 15 primetime shows. These episodes will be available the day after they air, in addition to past seasons of eight of the shows.
You’ll also be getting thousands of episodes of old shows the company dubs ‘CBS Classics’, such as Star Trek and CSI: Miami.
The app includes livestreaming of local CBS TV in 14 major US markets at launch. CBS is available for free with an antenna, but this could come in handy if you like watching news or sports live without a TV or on the go, particularly given Aereo’s downfall.
The news follows HBO’s announcement that it’s bringing all of its content online for consumers without requiring cable TV service, and further demonstrates continued viewer interest in cutting the cord from traditional means of viewing television.
Although at the rate we’re going, you might end up paying just as much as cable to watch the shows you want online.
CBS All Access is launching today.
