Rap Genius rebrands as Genius as it evolves into a full-fledged annotation platform

Rap Genius has announced a major rebranding to become just “Genius” as it moves beyond rap lyrics to become an annotation platform. With the announcement, the site has launched the Genius.com domain with subdomains for topics including rap, rock, literature, news, history and sports.

Moving forward, Genius plans to release tools that will let publishers add annotation functionality to their own sites.
