Google I/O 2017 will be hosted at Shoreline Amphitheater from May 17-19

Google is already gearing up to host its annual I/O developer conference this year, and it looks like the event will take place over three days from May 17-19 at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California.

Instead of merely making an announcement about it this time around, the company actually hid a bunch of clues in a GitHub repository. A bunch of clever Discord users cracked the puzzle to discover the event’s dates and venue.

Android Police has the solution here; I won’t spoil it for you in case you want to have a go at it yourself, but it’s safe to say that you’ll find yourself traveling the world to learn the answer. 9to5Google noted that Google was giving out free tickets to those who can solve the puzzle, but it isn’t entirely clear how that works.

I/O 2016 saw Google announce its Daydream VR platform and headset, the Allo and Duo apps for messaging and video calls, and the Home smart speaker. We also got a look at Android 7.0 Nougat, as well as Android Wear 2.0 (which is slated to arrive next month) and Android Instant Apps.

Naturally, expectations are high for this year’s event. It’s possible that we’ll see the next version of Android, advanced features in Google Assistant, updates to Chrome OS now that it’s gaining support for Android apps and maybe even a new phone. If last year’s proceedings were anything to go by, you’ll likely have to wait until March before you can snag a seat.
