Pandora is making another move against Spotify. After buying Rdio’s assets and introducing a personalized radio station, the music recommendation service is now launching a ‘Browse’ section to help people discover different music – although it’s currently limited to iOS users only.
As you might expect, Browse will change and add new artists based on your listening activity, and you can preview some of the music in a station before adding it to your stations list.

It’s a neat addition for letting you actually have some say in what kind of music you discover instead of simply being fed recommendations. It’s also a necessary one if Pandora plans to take on services like Spotify and Apple Music.
Interesting, Pandora also now provides metrics on how many people are listening to a particular station so you can get a better sense of the music’s popularity and tell the hidden gems from the pop hits.
Meanwhile the app is getting a few small features, including being able to organize your stations by recent use or alphabetical order, a redesigned artist page with more information, and one-tap access to the mini-player at the bottom of the app.
Browse is currently only available on iOS in the US, Australia and New Zealand, but the company says it will launch on Android soon. No word on upcoming desktop implementation yet.
