Just what the world needs, another mobile Twitter client, right? Well, no actually. But when we heard that the good folks behind the awesome Dollarbird smart calendar app were building one, we thought we’d give it a look.
Tweet7: How it works
Tweet7 has been built with iOS 7 in mind, serving up a clean, no fuss app that lets you peruse your stream and construct a tweet via the single button that’s planted at the bottom of the main screen. This is all you can do from the main interface though.
To access your other data, you swipe in from the right. For @mentions you swipe at the top of the stream.
To get to your direct messages and personal profile, you swipe from the middle and bottom respectively.
It’s a nicely designed app for sure, but it won’t appeal to everyone. For example, the app is devoid of Push Notifications.
Then there’s the issue of Twitter’s API restrictions, which means that third-party clients such as this are limited to 100,000 tokens – this will hamper its growth. “While the API restrictions are a problem, we still decided to build a Twitter client that feels at home on the new iOS, and is built on the same principles as iOS 7,” explains creator Levente Szabo.
