CloudOn — the productivity app best known for bringing Microsoft Office to the iPad — has today extended its Apple device support, launching its workspace on the iPhone, complete with optimisations for the popular smartphone.

CloudOn 3.0 ships with an iPhone customized ribbon, repurposing Microsoft’s Office ribbon so that it works flawlessly on the iPhone screen. With easy ways to tap and select, it makes changing font sizes, enabling switches and inputing new elements a breeze on the iPhone’s smaller screen.

The company has also included support for Microsoft’s SkyDrive service, adding it to its existing Dropbox, Box, Google Drive and Gmail integration, allowing users to grab their files from the cloud, edit and then share them.

Speaking of editing features, CloudOn has enabled its FileSpace platform on the iPhone, providing tools to add notes, check edits and receive real-time updates across iOS and Android devices, all without having to open the file itself.

In May, CloudOn’s app became available for Android tablets for the first time. As part of today’s update, the company has optimised its app for Google’s Nexus 7 and Apple’s iPad mini tablet, with better support for tablets running Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) or higher.

All of the above features are already present in CloudOn’s tablet apps, but now iPhone users get to try them for the very firt time.

“With CloudOn on the iPhone, iPad mini and Nexus tablet we’re one step closer to ubiquitous mobile productivity,” says CloudOn CEO Millind Gadekar. “We continue to focus on our mission of reinventing productivity in mobile and social environments.”

Back in June, CloudOn raised $16m in Series B funding to help it move beyond ‘Office for tablets’. This was announced a few weeks after it rolled out in fifteen countries across Europe and in Israel, and then landed in an additional 60 countries globally followed by 12 more in Latin America.

This means CloudOn’s apps are now available for download worldwide, and you can grab them using the links below.
