CloudOn rolls out its productivity app in 12 Latin American countries, eyes global coverage

CloudOn rolls out its productivity app in 12 Latin American countries, eyes global coverage

CloudOn is rolling out its free productivity app its 12 countries across Central and South America, the Silicon Valley-based company announced today.

As it name says, CloudOn is a cloud-based app, which lets users create, review, edit and share Microsoft Office and Adobe documents. As we reported, CloudOn is also integrated with Google Drive, Dropbox and Box.

As of today, CloudOn’s iPad app will also be available in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Surinam, Uruguay and Venezuela. In addition, it will also hit Google Play for Android tablets in Brazil and Argentina.

According to the company, this launch is a direct response to the high demand for its app in the Latin American market, where “thousands of users” were awaiting its release, having heard of its success in other territories. In its home market, the US, where it launched in early January, CloudOn reached the one million download milestone in only four months.

If IDG is to be believed, there are good reasons to think that CloudOn will also perform well in the US. According to a recent study by the research firm, 27% of South American IT professionals say they have “completely replaced their laptop with an iPad – a higher proportion than in Europe.

It is worth noting that it is only a start; CloudOn is already available in more than 80 countries following several rollouts, and plans to cover the entire world in the next month. While it may sound ambitious, the company seems to have the capital it needs to fuel its plans. Earlier this year, CloudOn announced that it raised $16 million in series B funding.
