Spotify lands on Kindle Fire

Spotify lands on Kindle Fire

Spotify is now available to download for Kindle Fire, the company announced today.

The music-streaming service has been making waves across the mobile music sphere on multiple platforms, include iOS and Android, and it finally landed on iPad back in May. It has also been rolled out on a number of other connected devices, with the likes of Western Digital and Virgin Media brought on as partners. And now it has landed on Amazon’s tablet. It features:

  • Support for Android 4.0
  • Mobile free radio – create stations, save songs, personalize listening
  • All-new slide-out navigation
  • Social features – check out friends’ profile pages and playlists on the go
  • Artist imagery in high-res
  • Related artist view – available for the first time on mobile
  • ‘Extreme’ sound quality setting for 320kbps listening

Of course, the Kindle Fire has yet to emerge outside of the US, so naturally it will be restricted to the American market for now, though the Fire is expected to launch globally at some point. Maybe don’t hold your breath though.

Those in the know have previously been able to instal Spotify on their Kindle Fire, through sideloading (installing applications outwith the official Amazon Appstore), but this marks the first time Spotify has been made officially available on Amazon’s Fire device.

The Kindle Fire app is available to download for free now.
