OS X Mavericks sees 5.5% adoption in the first 24 hours, 3x higher than Mountain Lion launch: report

People like free. At least, that’s what the latest OS X Mavericks adoption numbers from Chitika Insights suggest. 24 hours after Apple launched Mavericks, the new OS accounted for 5.5 percent of North American OS X traffic.

Those figures compare against the 1.6 percent that OS X Mountain Lion garnered during the 24 hours after its launch last year. Apple was bound to see a significant spike in adoption rates with Mavericks after making the release a free update .
