Well, we have word from Google. Our good friend Danny Sullivan promised us that he would put an ear into Google, and get the inside dope on just what was going on with those very susipicious search engine results that we saw earlier.
Google said, via SearchEngineLand, about possible censorship: “Not so, Google says. A spokesperson tells us: “This is a bug and we’re working to fix it as quickly as we can.”
I guess so. I refuse to accuse Google of anything. They say it is a bug, and we get to accept that as all the more information we are going to get.
Soon, the results should be back in order, and that means we can all scuttle along. Thanks for setting it right, Google.
So, no one has a problem with the defamatory words and phrases suggested when one types in “christianity is”?
Most software companies say “It is a feature not a bug.” At Google I think I feature:
try:
“jews are”
“islamists are”
“gays are”
“chinese are”
“dutch are” a result !
“lesbians are”
“martians are” a result
With a short program you can get a list of groups of people Google doesn’t want to insult.
It’s still not “fixed” for me.
Ansgar John’s comment was VERY enlightening and very true. Any group of people that are controversial right now have no suggested results from popular searches. So much for Google being a non-biased information provider.

I am ‘a’ Muslim, But I didn’t notice it it at all.

I do not care very much when google puts bad Suggest about islam. it’s not my view in the end.
In fact, I don’t like the idea of Suggest.It puts very bad results, when you type a single character only “exp:S”.
I Should say:
I love -truly- Google, but I do not need For his Suggestions.
I tested and its still there…
However caveat….
‘Jesus is’ returns lots of niceties ‘savior’, ‘lamb of god’ etc…
but ‘Mohammed is’ returns all kinds of offensive goodness.
So its a tough call, I think extremists of any religion would find a reason to kill each other no matter what. Free speech rules!
I tend to think it is a bug because when you type “Google is” one of the suggestions is “Google is the devil”

Google suggest has “Christianity is bullshit” and “Buddhism is wrong”, no Christian nor Buddhist gonna strap bombs to themselves and go blow up Google's building.

Once you have “Islam is evil” or “Islam is fuckup” on Google suggest, all hell will sure break loose.
I think its right for people to be aware of this BUG.
