If you grew up in the 80s or 90s, chances are you’re familiar with Bob Ross and his show ‘The Joy of Painting.’ If not, you can go check it out on Netflix, and then return to check this out. Really, it’s cool; I’ll wait.
The soft-spoken 20-year military-veteran-turned-artist-and-television-host (now deceased) had a cult following, a following that has only grown since the show made its way online. WhiteLightningHQ, an “internet-based entertainment group” brought us a glimpse at what a Bob Ross show in modern times would look like, complete with an HTC Vive headset, wireless controllers and Google’s VR painting application Tilt Brush.
The impersonator managed to sprinkle Ross-isms — such as “happy little people” — throughout the four minute video, all while tossing about a few uncharacteristic f-bombs and having a short spat with his on-air producers. But then again, as Ross once said: “you need the dark in order to show the light.”
