Keeping up with the current trend for couple’s apps, the dating and romantic social network Zoosk is launching Couple Profiles. This way lovebirds can chart their relationship on a joint profile. Sounds like a joint bank account for social credit.
Starting today, couples can build their joint profile on the Zoosk platform and share their lives together. The combined account has a ‘Romantic Moments’ feature that can act as a repository for images, updates and comments on events like anniversaries, vacations, special moments and more.
Those who choose to enter the couples arena will be led to a new interface allowing them to create a Couple Profile without the dating functionality that is available to single members.
Zoosk hopes that the new development will enhance the service it offers to people. Shayan Zadeh, co-founder and co-CEO, Zoosk says,
“Our mission at Zoosk has been to help people create and share their romantic journey. We started by helping singles to find a partner to begin their romantic journey. The next logical step toward our mission is to provide couples with tools for creating and sharing their journey. Our Couple Profiles is the foundation we will build these tools around.”
A future together
The new features will be available to Zoosk members on its site, via its Facebook app, in a downloadable desktop application and iOS mobile with future additions including comments, sharing, anniversary reminders and an Android App.
Zoosk is available in 25 languages and has members in more than 70 countries. The company was founded in 2007 by Shayan Zadeh and Alex Mehr, it’s based in San Francisco and backed by Canaan Partners, Bessemer Venture Partners, and ATA Ventures.
It’s easy to feel cynical about these ideas for technology if you are not romantically inclined but the online dating is worth a fortune and the available sites continue to grow in number and popularity.
As the amount of choices multiplies, getting customers to stay with a site becomes more difficult and of course many move away from a site when they find their match. Adding a couple’s option to Zoosk could be a smart move in order to keep its customer base wed to its site.
