YouTube launches its movie rental service in the UK

We reported last month that YouTube had rolled out its movie rental service in Canada, now it has announced the service has hit the UK too.

So if you’re in the UK, simply visit: youtube.com/movies and you can access more than a thousand feature films from Hollywood blockbusters to British classics. The announcement says:

“We’ve got some cracking films to keep everyone entertained through the upcoming winter months and beyond. From blockbusters like The Dark Knight and Reservoir Dogs, to new releases such as Hanna, Fast Five, and Red Riding Hood, and even British classics like Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

The UK is the third market to get access to the YouTube movie streaming service, following the US and Canada.

Prices for the films vary, but as an example Banksy’s ‘Exit Through the Gift Shop’ documentary costs £2.49, and users have 30 days to start watching, after which they have 48 hours to complete the viewing.
