It’s not exactly news that people sent tweets to say “Happy New Year” as 2014 arrived in their timezone, but Twitter has put together a neat interactive visualization to show how the message spread around the world in a variety of different languages as New Year’s Day arrived.
The visualization offers both a map and a graph that shows each language’s frequency over time. Unsurprisingly, Spanish, English and Arabic make the strongest showings across the day.
