AUS trade body has opened a patent case against 20 companies over the power systems inside AI servers. Foxconn, Luxshare and Quanta are among them. The US International Trade Commission acted after a complaint by power-chip maker Vicor, it said on Friday. Vicor says their products infringe one of its patents.
Twenty names on the list
The case covers systems that feed power to top-end chips from directly below them, and the computers that use them.
Besides Foxconn, Luxshare and Quanta, the companies named include Delta Electronics, Monolithic Power Systems, Infineon, Flex and Celestica.
Vicor wants the products barred from the US, and the firms ordered to stop selling them.
Luxshare plays it down
Apple supplier Luxshare said in a filing on Saturday that it does not expect the probe to have a material impact on its production, operations or results, Bloomberg reported.
The products are still being tested by customers and are not in mass production, Luxshare said. The commission has not ruled on the claims yet.
The commission will set a target date to finish the case within 45 days. Any import ban could only take effect after a full hearing and a final ruling.
Luxshare listed in Hong Kong in July, in the city’s biggest IPO this year.
