Twitter confirms that ‘a technical issue’ is affecting the sending of links via direct messages

US-INTERNET-COMPANY-TWITTERSome Twitter users have experienced difficulties in sending links via direct messages today, and a Twitter spokesperson has told TNW that “there’s a technical issue with URLs in direct messages.”

It’s not clear when the issue will be resolved, though we presume Twitter is working on it now.

Many users had suspected Twitter could have prevented users from sending links via direct messages, but it’s clear that this is in fact down to a bug.

Earlier this week, Twitter revamped its direct messages — one of its oldest features — giving users the choice to receive private messages from any of their followers. In the past, users have been unable to send a direct message to someone they are following if the recipient wasn’t following them back.
