Tumblr has been introducing Sponsored Posts over the past couple of years across the Web and mobile, but now the Yahoo-owned blogging platform has announced that marketers are able to “elevate their brand stories in a much bigger way,” with content from Sponsored Posts now being promoted across Yahoo too.
Indeed, Sponsored Posts are available through Yahoo Gemini, the ad marketplace for mobile search and native advertising launched by the Internet giant back in February. This means that paid-for articles, images and videos can be pushed across Yahoo’s various online properties on the desktop, mobile and tablets.
This move isn’t entirely surprising, after all why would Yahoo invest north of $1 billion on the company if it wasn’t looking to maximize its monetization potential? With Yahoo on board, this extends Tumblr’s Sponsored Posts to in excess of 800 million average monthly visitors.
