Tumblr Adds Static Pages To Its Blogging Service

Tumblr Adds Static Pages To Its Blogging Service

tumblr_logoTumblr, one of the most popular simple blogging platforms has extended its capability to include static pages attached to individual users blogs, or Tumblogs.

The static page capability gives Tumblr users the ability to build more robust websites simply, making the platform a cross-over product between simple, and more powerful hosted blogging options.

Tumblr is attempting to hit the part of the market that is currently dominated by WordPress.com, Typepad, and Blogger.

There are three types of static pages that users can create: standard layout, custom layout, and redirects. Users can therefore replicate the Tumblr theme for the static pages, use a custom layout, or merely point to other pages. It looks like this:

While this is unlikely to sway the devoted users of other platforms that already blog, it will make Tumblr a more attractive blogging platform for people just getting into publishing.
