In our Apps of the Year series, The Next Web team shares personal recommendations for our favorite apps of 2014.
Earlier this week, we rounded up the best iOS and Android apps that launched in 2014. Some of our staff favorites may not have been released within the past 12 months, but they’re apps we love to use… a lot.
Here they are in one handy list. For more info, check out the links below on why we’ve personally selected them.
Dashlane
European Editor Ben Woods values digital security – and so should you. Dashlane is his pick for maintaining the passwords to all your accounts and services.

TwoDots
At TNW, we love us a good puzzle game – even more so when they’re filled with beautiful artwork and soundtrack. The only thing we wished TwoDots had is more levels!
➤ TwoDots is Adorably Addictive
Wire
Speaking of beautiful design, reporter Napier Lopez selected Wire as his favorite messaging app out of the myriad that exists on today’s market. A look at the UX and you’ll see why.

Recordium
Since we’re all journalists here, it makes sense that one of our most frequented apps this year is a tool for interviews. Reporter Roberto Baldwin loves Recordium for all those on-the-record moments.
PushBullet
When you jump around as many devices as Ben does, PushBullet is great for viewing all your notifications in one place.
Reporter
Featured prominently on Editor in Chief Martin Byrant’s homescreen, Reporter is a great tool for managing your daily habits to help improve, well, virtually any behavior you wish.
Scanbot
2014 was another a great year for cordcutters, and reporter Abhimanyu Ghoshal does this with his paperwork by using Scanbot to keep things digitized.

Spaceteam
Reporter Owen Williams clearly had parties on his mind when he named Spaceteam one of his favorite apps of the year. Unlike TwoDots, Spaceteam is much better played in a group.

ProCamera 8
Mobile photography is bigger than ever, so for those no longer lugging giant DSLRs around, Creativity editor Jackie Dove recommends ProCamera 8 for professional quality editing on an iPhone.
7 Minute Workout
No time to hit the gym? No worries – 7 Minute Workout is a great beginner’s tool for a healthier lifestyle, without spending the big bucks.

Mynd
If you anticipate to be just as busy in 2015 as you were this year, check out Mynd for a gorgeous way to organize your daily meetings.
Path Talk
The success of businesses like Uber and Seamless makes one thing clear: We all hate talking to businesses on the phone. Path Talk is a messaging app for just that – but for many types of businesses, not just restaurants or cabs.
➤ Path Talk Will Change Your Life
Korg Gadget
For music lovers who loves editing on the go, Korg Gadget is a great app for fidgeting with your tunes, then uploading the finished product straight to iTunes, Dropbox or other compatible iOS apps.
