    Are you reading this from your cubicle in a crowded office? Maybe not: you could also be sitting in a co-working space, at your home office, in a café… Indeed, more and more people have started to work remotely over the last decade, including most of The Next Web’s team.

    This was only made possible by the democratization of mobile devices (smartphones, laptops, iPads, etc.) and by the expansion of technologies such as WiFi and 3G.

    Besides the practical aspect, it’s also a cultural change – which is still happening as we write. The job market has evolved and more and more people find themselves self-employed.

    While many digital nomads are independent freelancers, an increasing number of corporations open themselves to new forms of work and communications with their employees. This trend is unlikely to stop here, as many more people could telecommute. If working from anywhere is an option, why not take it?
