    Target will soon launch a premium digital video service called Target Ticket that will put the retailer in competition with Netflix and Walmart’s Vudu, according to a report from TechCrunch.

    Target tipped its hand in May when it put up a beta site for the service. The site advertises access to 15,000 titles, including “new releases, classic movies, and next-day TV”, but appears to be only for Target employees at the moment. Target Ticket will reportedly offer both streaming and downloading of movies and shows with support for PC, Mac, iOS and Android.

    TechCrunch expects movie purchases to cost between $12.99 and $14.99 and rentals to set you back $3.99 to $4.99, though members of its REDcard service may receive discounts. The terms and conditions for the Target Ticket app, which is already in the App Store and Google Play, suggest that the company will also offer a disc-to-digital service through UltraViolet.
