Sync.ME’s new ME Card wants to be the only contact card you’ll ever need

Uber-popular contact synchronization service Sync.ME has rolled out a new universal card format designed to give users a simpler interface to customize their own contact details.

The aptly-titled ME Card format was quietly introduced for existing users a few weeks ago, but the official unveiling kicks in from today, on both Android and iOS.

If you’re new to Sync.ME, it works like this. You connect the app to your Facebook, LinkedIn and/or Google+ (iOS only) accounts, and all you contacts are synced, merged and kept up-to-date alongside the contacts on your device, with their latest pictures and other information from their social networks.

With the ME Card, users now have a virtual business card of sorts that lets users choose exactly what information they share with their contacts, without having to change their details across all their social networks.

Before, Sync.ME only pulled in data from the profiles users chose to connect with and didn’t allow them to edit or customize. Now, the ME Card allows users to edit and customize information from all their networks, and include additional information, that users want to share with all their contacts.

This means users no longer have to send a mass email or text message with updates telephone number, and the ME Card lets users determine which details they wish to share with other Sync.ME users.

Sync.ME claims seven million users globally today, and says it’s currently syncing more than one billion contacts every week.
