Still waiting for your Nexus 7? Google speeds up shipping and confirms delivery dates

If you pre-ordered a Nexus 7 and still haven’t been notified of a delivery date, Google has updated its support pages to clarify when you will receive your new Android Jelly Bean tablet, stating that demand has been “incredible” since the Google I/O developer conference.

Google says that it will process and ship all orders made before July 13 (when it said it had begun shipping some units) soon, adding that in the US and Canada, all Nexus 7 8GB models have already been shipped. If you’re in the UK, you can expect your 8GB tablet to ship by July 20.

If you decided the 16GB model suits you best, Google quotes different delivery times for the US, Canada, Australia and the UK.

In the US, Google says it hopes to ship all Nexus 7 16GB orders placed before July 11 by the close of play on July 19, upgrading shipping to overnight delivery to speed up delivery times. All remaining orders will be shipped by the end of next week (July 27). After that, delivery times will be subject to the status noted on the Google Play Store.

Orders for the Nexus 7 16GB model in Canada will be shipped within 1-2 weeks, with Google aiming to have UK orders placed before June 30 delivered by July 20. Remaining UK orders will ship next week.

In Australia, orders for both the 8GB and 16GB models will be shipped by the end of the day on July 19, taking between 3-5 days to reach you.

Finally entering the tablet market (via ASUS), Google needs to ensure its fulfilment processes are a little more straightforward.

Customers have complained about being charged for the device without receiving a shipping number, delays once the unit has been shipped, and a complete lack of communication from Google over the processing of their order.

Most customers have now received an update from the company and Google has upgraded most orders to free overnight shipping, but it has taken weeks for updates to emerge, resulting in some customers ordering a second unit from a retail partner to get their hands on a device in a more prompt and efficient fashion.
