SoundCloud makes it easier to share and discuss audio with a revamped messaging system

SoundCloud introduced a revamped messaging system for its site today, making it easier for creators and listeners to share their favorite tracks and playlists with one another.

Using the envelope icon at the top of the screen, you can now review your inbox and compose a new message from scratch. Conversations are now threaded together too, making it easier to keep track of what you’ve been sharing and talking about.

When you insert a URL for a track or playlist, it will be replaced automatically with the versatile SoundCloud player, complete with buttons for adding a like, resharing it, adding it to a playlist or downloading it for offline playback. The design is sparse and minimal, with very little color save for the occasional splash of vibrant, bright orange.

Elsewhere on the site, you’ll see a new Message option when you hit the Share button underneath the SoundCloud player. Similar to the new inbox, here you can embed the the track or playlist, write a quick note and specify who you would like to send it too.

The new feature is geared towards the most active SoundCloud users, who visit the site regularly and are engaging with the rest of the community. It’s a slick implementation and should help listeners, musicians and podcasters alike to share and discuss their favorite sounds.
