Songkick for iPhone now scans your Spotify playlists and lets you buy tickets in-app

Songkick’s iPhone app has received a handful of notable updates today, ones that should go down well with music-lovers the world over: In-app ticketing and Spotify integration.

As things stand, Songkick scans your locally-stored personal music collection and keeps you in the loop about gigs and concerts in your area based on your music taste. It’s constantly working away, ready to tell you when one of your favorite (and forgotten) musicians is playing nearby.

Now, however, you can integrate the Songkick app directly with your Spotify account, which basically opens the app up to much more music. In addition to this, rather than just learning about which artists are playing in your ‘hood, you can now buy tickets directly through the iPhone app too, but this is only available to UK-users for the moment – it’s working with promoters to try and bring this feature to users globally.

Many users are turning to streaming services such as Spotify to get their music fix, bypassing download-based services such as iTunes altogether. So if you’ve been listening to a lot more music in the past couple of years through streaming rather than downloading, this integration will work well in your favor.

Songkick could already scan your Spotify playlists via the Web, and these features will be arriving for Android in the future.
