Sky Sports to broadcast real-time Champions League clips through Twitter and Facebook in the UK

Sky Sports to broadcast real-time Champions League clips through Twitter and Facebook in the UK

Last month we reported that London-based startup Grabyo was working with BSkyB (Sky) to enable the broadcaster to easily edit and share video clips for the final day of the football transfer window. Following this trial, Grabyo has now revealed a broader partnership that will see Sky Sports clips from the Champions League distributed in real-time through Twitter and Facebook.

It’s worth adding here that although clips will include real-time video of key events from the game, goals won’t form part of this. However, Sky will post three of the best goals once the games are over.

To recap, Grabyo Studio lets companies grab (hence its name), edit and share their own clips across their website and social channels. Clips can also be previewed and edited by the broadcaster before being shared, and snippets can be viewed directly within a tweet, as well as within Facebook’s newsfeed and on the Sky Sports website too.

The project will start with Sky Sports’ coverage of the UEFA Champions League on October 22nd (tonight). Sky will also be using Grabyo Studio to instantly share ad-supported clips of Sky Sports News.
