Update, 28 October

Revolut says it has fixed the sign-in problem. We have added its statement to this story, and its status page now shows all systems as operational.

Revolut says it has fixed a technical problem that stopped some customers from logging in to its app on Wednesday, 28 October. The problems came eight days after an earlier outage left users unable to use the app or their cards.

“We experienced a short technical issue with our app this afternoon that meant some customers were unable to log in. The issue was quickly identified and has now been fixed, and the app is working fully for those affected. Most of our customers were unaffected, and all our customers’ money and data are safe. We apologise for any inconvenience caused,” a Revolut Bank spokesperson said in a statement sent to TNW.

The bank’s status page listed sign-in as “partially unavailable” from 16:22 CET (15:22 UK time). Every other service on the page, including card payments, transfers and business log-in, showed no problems at 16:30 CET. The page now shows all systems as operational.

What users reported

Users on the r/Revolut subreddit reported failed log-ins from the UK, Germany, Spain, Hungary, Bulgaria and Portugal. Several said the app kept rejecting their passcode. The user who started the thread, in Ireland, said their business account still worked. Others in Ireland, Italy and Portugal said the app worked for them.

“Yes, in UK, can’t log in. Keeps rejecting passcode and says too many attempts,” one Reddit user wrote.

On Downdetector, 57% of problem reports concerned log-in and 38% concerned the app.

The 20 October disruption came on the same day as a Google Cloud outage in its London region. Revolut is preparing a dual stock listing in London and New York.
