Mogl, a loyalty program for restaurants, has changed its model from a flat 10 percent cashback rate to a variable real-time system that lets restaurants adjust their rewards based on demand.
The change means that diners can now pick up extra cash during off-hours, but they’ll also probably get less when eating during peak times. Under the new model, you can see incentives as high as 30 percent cash back and as low as 5 percent. Mogl has updated its app so that users can search based on cashback amounts to find which venues offer the best discount.
Mogl’s strategy of encouraging users to donate their rewards to a local food bank hasn’t changed with the new system. Customers can still choose to give all or a portion of their rewards toward ending hunger. The startup says its members have donated over 600,000 meals to date.
