It looks like livestreaming is becoming a thing again. In the wake of Twitter’s desire to build out Periscope and Facebook’s eagerness to push Live Videos to the masses, it seems Google does not want to be left behind. According to a report from VentureBeat, which cited a source, Google has built its own livestreaming feature called YouTube Connect.
Unsurprisingly, the feature works a lot like those offered by competitors: after a user logs in with their Google or Youtube account through mobile, they can begin streaming with their phones immediately. Videos will be available for live viewing and also archived on a user’s channel.
Google has been exploring a lot more with its livestreaming content on YouTube, specifically through YouTube Gaming. But this is a different product that harkens back to YouTube’s spontaneous and user-friendly beginnings: just as it was easy enough to turn on your webcam and reach your audience, this new feature could be the mobile equivalent.
