Apple’s iPhone 5s has taken the company to the number one position in the US smartphone market for the month of September, after it captured a 39 percent share of the market and overtook Samsung, according to data from Counterpoint Research.
Samsung has led in the US smartphone market since May, but Apple’s strong showing in September more than doubled its market share and pushed Samsung down.
Counterpoint Research notes that the iPhone 5s became the top-selling smartphone model in the US in September, despite only going on sale on September 20. Samsung’s Galaxy S4 took second place, while the iPhone 5c occupied the third spot.
