Rdio updates its iOS app to better support iOS 6 and the iPhone 5’s larger screen

Rdio updates its iOS app to better support iOS 6 and the iPhone 5’s larger screen

Rdio fans rejoice, today the music streaming service updated its iOS application to include better support for both iOS 6 and the iPhone 5’s new screen size.

The update, version 1.4.0, also includes what the company describes as ‘updated’ translations. You can snag the new edition here, if you are so inclined.

Rdio has been much in the news recently, with TNW reporting yesterday that the company may well be in talks to be acquired by Microsoft. Microsoft itself is known to be working on a new music service, to be called Xbox Music.

Xbox Music is the descendent of the Zune music service that Microsoft introduced years back. Zune never managed to gain a large enough foothold to challenge iTunes. It was then surpassed by streaming music startups later in its life.

The combination of the two music endeavors could present a real challenge to the somewhat dominant streaming player, Spotify. Rdio sports more than 18 million tracks in its library.

For the moment, Rdio and Microsoft are not commenting on the rumors of their potential linkage. TNW continues to investigate the situation.
